Capiz High School, now Capiz National High School was completely organized in 1914 and became the nucleus of education in the Provinve of Capiz. Its teaching staff was composed of Americans and was pattered from the American System. All the students spoke the English Language. Filipino dresses and barong tagalog were used as uniforms.
In 152, Capiz High School offered normal and general courses. The Normal Courses include history, biology, reading methods, arithmetics and music while the General Courses consisted of history, english, mathematics, science, biology, and physical education. In 1933, the Normal Courses was abolished and in 1935, Vocational Courses were offered. For the 1st and 2nd year students vocational courses were exporatory, while the 3rd and 4th year students took their specialization.
In the absence of Staduim, athletes were then held at the front of Capiz National High School. The school can boast of understanding athletes who competed not only in Regional but likewise in National Competitions.
In 1957 Capiz High School was closed and it became a part of Capiz School of Arts and Trades now, Capiz States University but was re-opened in 1960 through the initiative of the Late Governo Atila Balgos and the Late Assistant Divisio Superintendent of School, Jesus A. Menez. When it was re-opened Ms. Socorro F. Mejorada was assigned as Principal.
Since, the school was growing Department Heads were assigned to aid the Assistant Principal Ms. Josefa Argosin 1972.
The year 1982, proved a great for Capiz High School with the help of Assemblyman of Capiz Jaenito Madamba, Parliamentary Bill 229 was passed on December 11 1981 converting Capiz High School inot a national High School. In february 8, 1982 Ex-Preident Ferdinand Marcos signed Batas Blg.137 which converted it into Capiz National High School. Since then, the school grow and contiuned to reap success.
Mrs. ANrcisa Artates assumed office in 1988, a tie-up project with the DOST was made possible thus, giving birth to the Special Science and Technology Class. The school was the reciient of computers donated by the DOST witht were used for instruction by the pioneer graduates of SSTC. In 1993, the school was offered the Divisionanl Leader School and Pilot School for Principal Impowerment and was awarded as the Most Outstanding Implementer and the Best performing School in Regional VI.
Being the pioneer recipient school of the Depatment of Trade and Industry Pesonal Computers for Public School Projects, it opened the School of the Future, which in a computer-based liteary instruction.
The school actively responded at the challenge of the Natinal Culture of Excellence, thus paving th road map of the arts which eventually produced talents in performing and visual arts for global competitiveness.
Capiz National High School will continue to grow as a Prime Secondary School in the Province as wekl as in the Region and in the whole country it was awarded and recognized internationally for the Science Investigatory Project in 2006 in the United States.
Since education is a continued process, so must a school grow to new heights, facing the challenges of time and answering to the call of civilization.
